5 Handy Tips For Tent Camping

Last Updated on 05/12/2019 by Brian John

Are you ready for an amazing camp spree with your friends or family at an exotic place? While it sounds thrilling, you need to plan it out very well. Obviously, a camping stay will not give you the advantages of Marriott hotels but if you plan well, it will be more of a utopian experience.

Today, I will give you some pointers to grab a clear understanding of tent camping and the vital do's & don’ts.

1. Drive Test Your Gear

Learning how to set up a tent, heat your tent and test it for optimal functionality are all parts of securing a memorable camping trip ahead. Before you pack up and head out, make sure you are well-equipped with the basic know-how of tent building. Buy a camping tent that could meet your ad-hoc needs with efficacy. Choosing a very compact design might limit your space & storage flexibility.

I advise you to opt for hammocks or single room tents if you are on your own and planning to pitch up one in a less spacious area. Check online tutorials and set up your tent inside your garden for self-practicing before hitting the road.

2. Choose A Camping Spot Closer To Your Place

If you are new to tents, I recommend you put up your tent in a camping area near your place. It will help you manage the camping dynamics without stress. This will also come handy if you can not set up your tent to protect against gritty climatic conditions like storms and heavy showers.

The last thing you want in your camping spree is a soggy inside and a dripping tarpaulin. In case, you encounter a thunderstorm, you can always wrap up the accessories quickly and head back home without any hassle.

3. Use Comfortable Camping Gear

If you are looking for a memorable camping trip, you should take along handy accessories. These must include comfortable chairs, a foldable table, and sleeping bags. While camping you will surely spend time on activities like sports, hiking, fishing, canoeing, swimming, grilling or reading.

Having chairs and a portable centerpiece that you can use during leisure time will improve your experience.

4. Choose Your Camping Site Carefully

While you may be tempted to go hit a camping spot at one of the famous attractions, it is wise to pick a site that is safe, serene and that meets your camping needs well. Most campgrounds are usually danger-less zones but when you factor in climate and environmental factors they can be a bit risky.

Avoid camping at a site with fallen trees, a lot of debris or shredded twigs. These tend to botch camping during a storm or blizzard. If you are looking for a silent spot, then pitch up your tent at a place with no neighboring campers. Know your directions well so that you can easily set up a campfire and pitch up a tent to optimize sunlight and dark vibes for your spot.

5. Pack For Temperature Control

Most top quality tents are built for proper ventilation and resist water, however, you should rope in a few items for temperature control. For example, extra blankets, sleeping bag liners or sheets are useful for places where the temperature tends to fall at night.

You could also use a heating or cooling water bottle to keep inside your sleeping bag during the night for fluctuating temperatures. Pack a portable battery-operated cooling appliance for cold beverages and storing food during warm temperatures for your comfort.
