Doing Online Surveys

While this isn’t going to attract mature singles it’s still worth considering. With the right kind of sources, survey filling can be highly lucrative. They pay cash via PayPal or in various gift cards. Here is a list of the best ones.

Starting a Blog

Have a passion for writing? Another good hobby is running a blog. Best of all running a blog these days is practically free. Look no further than WordPress and Blogger as free alternatives to building a blog.

There are a number of other perks - particularly the opportunity to write whatever and whenever.

Buy and Resell Online

There is a whole industry of people buying items and selling them. There is nothing off the table. From physical items like smartphones, and toys, to even websites and accounts to certain websites or video games.

With sites like Facebook, Craiglist, and Ebay, it’s easy to use it as a platform to resell items.

Watch Videos/Start a YouTube Channel

There are millions of minutes of video footage uploaded every minute to YouTube. Out of it all there are loads of hilarious and random videos.

On the same note, consider starting your own Youtube channel. While it’ll take a while to make any money from it, it can be a good way to pass the time. Of course, for this to work well, don't forget to purchase a cheap high speed internet package, as you will need reliable internet to be able to upload your videos successfully.

Invest

Learning about investing and then doing it are two things entirely. While learning about it can be interesting, by taking the leap you can make some serious cash. Investing overall is a smart hobby as it can easily turn into a side-hustle. Either way getting an extra income with little effort is great.

Shop at Garage Sales/Thrift Shops

If you’re in a larger community there is bound to be thrift stores and people doing garage sales. Not only is this prime spot to buy and resell items, shopping around can still be a fun activity.

Volunteer Work

Giving back to a local charity group can be heartwarming. If the community is doing something that you support, lend a hand. It’s a great experience.

Gardening

While many people think gardening can be pricey, it’s actually a flexible hobby money-wise. Not only are planting seeds pretty cheap, but there are money-saving opportunities when considering growing your own food.

Go Camping

Camping is like gardening - it can be expensive or cheap. Regardless, camping can be exciting for all involved for various reasons. It’s more or less a mini-vacation.

Go Hiking

Hiking doesn’t necessarily mean climbing a large mountain or scaling a large surface. Something as simple as walking off the usual path on a trail or woods can be considered hiking.

On top of that hiking is great exercise and can keep you in great shape.

Collect Rocks/Nature Objects

Weird, I know, but we tend to find value in some of the most random items when we give them meaning. And what more meaning do you need than you want to collect certain objects. There is no shame in collecting random objects, after all, they can be meaningful or even unique items for you.

Go to a Local Library and Read

Visiting a library isn’t required, but reading, in general, is a fantastic hobby. There are tremendous benefits like learning new words and learning new lessons and perspectives.

Furthermore, starting a book club or swapping books with friends can expand the amount of reading material too.

Write a Book/Daily Journal

Writing, in general, has some serious perks. Not only is writing highly therapeutic, it’s also a way to make money. There are plenty of businesses looking for freelance writers. Not to mention there is always book publishing too

There is the calmer route as well of writing in a personal journal. These too have benefits both mentally and personally. Using a daily journal to write down goals or plan out your day provide clarity and purpose, something most people lack sadly.

Study a New Language

Today there are many resources that can help in learning a new language. Not only are there personal benefits, but learning a new language will expand vocabulary and help in translating when visiting a foreign country.

Doodle

A cheap hobby: a pencil and paper is what’s needed. From this canvas springs forth all kinds of wonderful things. Not to mention expanding to amateur drawing.

Learn to Cook

Cooking is a practical and healthy skill to have not to mention is a money-saver too. After all, fresh fruits and veggies is cheaper than pre-made products. All you need to do is follow the recipe. Luckily, there are thousands of recipes online to try out.

Learn to Sew

Basic sewing can be a lifesaver. It’s the skill between repairing a small hole to going out and getting a whole new article of clothing. It’s a simple hobby that can come in handy in many practical situations.

Play an Instrument

Playing a musical instrument doesn’t require expensive lessons or even getting an expensive instrument. In this day and age, there are YouTube videos that can teach you basically anything and that’s what people have done. These days, it’s not out of the ordinary for most musicians to be self-taught.

Read the News

Staying up with modern problems can keep you in the loop. While we might not be able to change the entire world, having some level of awareness has its perks.

Take Bike Rides

Most have a bike sitting in their garage or in storage and it’s actually not that expensive to fix it up. Even buying a bike is relatively cheap. After that, biking everywhere is absolutely free.

Go for a Run

The cheapest form of exercise around. Have a decent pair of shoes and you’re good to go. Even walking works if you struggle running.

Swimming

Public beaches, lakes or other areas will make swimming free. If you don’t live near there, chances are there is a community pool(s) to go to during certain hours for cheap. Swimming is great cardio all around.

Meditate

It’s an exercise for your brain and has a lot of mental benefits.

Join a Sports Team

Have any sports gear? Great. Joining a team even at a casual capacity is great for you. Most communities will have some kind of recreation department with all kinds of community sports teams for kids and adults alike.

Learning to Can and Preserve Food

A very handy skill, especially with gardening. Being able to store food for extended periods of time will save you money and ensure your food stays fresh and good.

Try these hobbies out! They’re a blast.
