Last Updated on 06/19/2019 by Brian John

An RV is more of a house on wheels. If you are planning to go for RV camping it surely is going to be a whole lot of fun, an experience that will stay with you for a lifetime. However, to make sure this experience indeed turns out to be amazing, thrilling, and perfect, there are some essentials that you must carry, and for the purpose, a checklist can prove to be useful.

Table of Contents

  1. Why do you need a checklist?
  2. Kitchen requirements
  3. Bathroom needs
  4. Clothes and other personal items
  5. A First-aid kit
  6. For Leisure
  7. Sleeping Needs

Why do you need a checklist?

If you do not have a checklist, packing can prove to be quite stressful. On reaching the campground if you suddenly realize you have forgotten to bring along some essentials, then you are doomed. However, if you have a proper checklist, then there is no chance of missing anything, and your trip will be as successful as you wanted.

Now, without a wait, let us get to learn about the different checklists you need to give importance to.

Kitchen requirements

Not everyone likes to eat in a restaurant, not every meal at least. Thankfully, when going for an RV camping trip you can cook your own meals, and to do so you need to carry:

  • Pans and pots
  • Cooking utensils
  • Stackable mixing bowls
  • Cutting board and a knife
  • Mugs, cups, bowls, and spoons
  • Can opener
  • Canned foods
  • Condiments
  • Cooking oil
  • Food storage containers and aluminum foil
  • Trash bags
  • Dish soap, scrubbers, and pot holders

You can also carry an appliance or two if you find it necessary, though you must consider the available space as well. Do not worry, once you go for a couple of RV camping trips you clearly will be able to decide what you need and what you do not.

Bathroom needs

You do not need to bathe in the cold streams and lakes while camping at your RV has its own personal clean and warm bathroom for you. Things that you will need in your little RV bathroom are:

  • Shampoo and conditioner
  • Soap
  • Toothpaste and toothbrush
  • Toilet
  • Towels
  • Toiletry kit

Not only will you be bathing in the bathroom, but you will also use it to relieve yourself. Yes, your RV does have a holding tank but that comes with a certain capacity and needs to be emptied. If you want this emptying process to be easier then RV macerator pumps can come to your rescue. These pumps are known to grind up large chunks of waste from your toilet into a fine slurry. The slurry can easily travel through even the smallest of hoses right into a sewage system. This certainly will make the job very easy for you.

Clothes and other personal items

You are not going out on a party, but for camping so you need not carry too many clothes, but just as many as is needed. You certainly must keep the weather in mind, if it is warm and sunny you can carry light clothes with you, but if it is cold outside then you need to pack enough to stay warm and comfortable. Other items that you will need are:

  • Deodorant
  • Brush/comb
  • Laundry bag
  • Hat
  • Sunscreen
  • Shoes
  • Rain gear
  • Sleep clothes
  • Socks
  • Underwear
  • Jacket/sweatshirt

A First-aid kit

Safety always has to be given prime importance, and this holds true even when you are going RV camping. Your checklist, in this case, must include:

  • Absorbent compress dressings
  • Antiseptic wipes packets
  • Adhesive bandages
  • Antibiotic ointment
  • Instant cold compress
  • Roller bandage
  • Oral thermometer
  • Tweezers
  • First aid instruction booklet

Apart from these, if there are any medications that you regularly take, then you need to mention them in this checklist as well.

For Leisure

When you visualize camping, you think about having a nice relaxing time, talking with family and friends or maybe just gazing at the beautiful scenery around. So, to fulfill this desire of yours, and to make sure you have the most fun-filled yet relaxing time you need:

  • Lounge chairs
  • Firewood
  • Paper and pen
  • Games and cards

Sleeping Needs

After you have enjoyed camping and playing the whole day, you naturally must be looking forward to a peaceful night’s sleep, so that you get fresh and ready to have more fun the next day. To enjoy a good sleep, you need to carry along --

  • Sheets for every bed
  • Pillows with cases
  • Sleeping bags or/and extra blankets

These are a few items that your checklist must include, but you can add more to it, keeping in mind your personal requirements. Make sure to create a checklist on paper. Once you have included an item in your camping bag or in your RV, keep ticking it off the checklist, and this will help ensure you do not miss a single item. Now all that is left to do is to enter your RV, start your journey, and have the most thrilling experience of your life.
